Johnson & Johnson is hiring for a Director of Operations to join our team located in Shockwave Medical Costa Rica.
Fueled by innovation at the intersection of biology and technology, we’re developing the next generation of smarter, less invasive, more personalized treatments. Ready to join a team that’s pioneering the development and commercialization of Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) to treat complex calcified cardiovascular disease. Our Shockwave Medical portfolio aims to establish a new standard of care for medical device treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease through its differentiated and proprietary local delivery of sonic pressure waves for the treatment of calcified plaque.
Position Overview
The Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with regulatory standards for Shockwave Medical, production schedules, compliance to all GMP and company policies of all production employees, and to oversee the management of commercial production to meet daily production goals and long-term operational goals. This role will supervise the Managers of Operations and the entire manufacturing operation for all Value Streams and production shifts. In partnership with Engineering will work to improve and implement manufacturing documents, troubleshoot manufacturing processes, and evaluate and improve training on manufacturing processes. Will also be responsible for coordinating with other departments on duties in support of the manufacturing operation. This position carries a leadership responsibility over the entire manufacturing operations, influencing peer organization to align priorities and resources.

Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for cost center spend, providing input to forecasts and long-term planning related to manufacturing production.
- Responsible for the day-to-day work of the Manufacturing operation, to meet production demand while maintaining compliance to all regulations and procedures.
- Manages resources to meet or exceed production output including establishing schedules, timelines, needed resources, and capacity improvements, and reacting quickly to issues that may impact schedule, product quality and production output.
- Coordinates manufacturing activities with other departments, including Quality Control, Materials Management, Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Assurance to ensure in-process and finished goods testing, sampling.
- Leading and partnering with engineering to implement lean manufacturing improvements and systems.
- Support Supply Chain on Sales & Operations Planning
- Continuously reviews production operations and identifies opportunities to improve work processes and methods.
- Mediates group conflicts and resolves issues between team members.
- Ensuring manufacturing activities follow approved company procedures. Reviews production records for completeness and accuracy.
- Addresses all issues raised during review and provides appropriate variance documentation. Responsible for initiating, coordinating and tracking of non-conformances associated with production.
- Conduct or coordinate various training for production personnel, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, safety and quality compliance.
- Managing personnel to include developing, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing daily tasks; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving employee related problems.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related discipline or equivalent experience, Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of fifteen 15 years of experience in Production/Manufacturing in a medical device environment; or 12 years of experience with a Master´s Degree.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in leadership management.
- Ability to manage resources: time, budget and people. Strong people management skills are essential.
- Knowledge of and compliance with applicable Quality System requirements such as QSRs, FDA, ISO, MDD and other applicable regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Good presentation skills to deliver presentations effectively to a variety of audiences. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
