The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alajuela location. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

As the Manufacturing Engineer Technician II, you’ll support the development and implementation of optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls; support the activities related to installation and validation of production lines as well as the lifecycle management of equipment.

What You’ll Do

  • Daily support to the manufacturing activities to meet established goals for safety, quality, cost and production.
  • Maintain systems that support the monitoring of key performance indicators such as yield, per operators, reject pareto, etc. If indicators show an adverse trend, works with the functional team to plan and implement appropriate changes.
  • Support yield/productivity analysis & improvement plans.
  • Analyzes defective material to identify probable cause.
  • Supports in the performance of installation/validation activities for new or existent production lines, meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Supports on the identification, selection and purchasing equipment/fixtures according to production requirements.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating calibration, maintenance, and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service when needed.
  • Able to interpret product requirements and specifications.
  • Understands potential risks related to product malfunctions.
  • Has clear criteria of conforming/ non conforming product.
  • Execute change requests with the support of the ME. Supports DL's training process.
  • Supports DL's training process.
  • Paticipates in the identification and investigation of Non-conforming products. Supports the root cause identification.
  • Support process improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school degree completed (11°).
  • Technical diploma in Electronics, Electric, Electromechanics, Mechanical or related.
  • 2+ years of experience in similar roles, knowledge in manufacturing process.
  • Capable to perform data analysis and data collection in excel or other software.
  • Strong computer software knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point,Visio).
  • Capable to support investigations using root cause problem solving methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/expertise in a specific technical/Engineering area.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Intermediate command of English required (B1).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Desired experience in validations execution.
  • Technical/Engineering Studies are preferred.
  • 3+ years in a Medical Device Manufacturing or similar environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of FDA, GMP and ISO guidelines.
  • Experience working in a cross-division business unit model, preferred.
  • Available to work 100% on site (Coyol, Alajuela).
  • Shift Administrative (Monday to Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm).
