About the role:

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) provides guidance to employees and assists in the management of the Human Resources (HR) function, encompassing HR policy administration, compensation, performance management, staffing, employee relations, benefits administration and payroll processing for the Costa Rica team. This position works as a team member within HR as well as with all levels of management in a business partner environment to promote optimum service. The incumbent is responsible for providing HRBP support throughout the organization. This position interacts with the management team to recommend solutions and address business needs.

What you will do:

  • Acts as a business partner, providing coaching and advice to management.
  • Serves as a consultant to leaders on a broad range of organizational issues of critical importance to the business; anticipates business needs. Provides realistic solutions aligned with the site/business unit’s business objectives through organization redesign initiatives, change management, employee engagement initiatives and management development
  • In collaboration with managers and supervisors, addresses and resolves employee relations issues as well as conducts formal internal investigations as necessary and coaches managers on any appropriate disciplinary process or actions. Seeks legal advice when necessary.
  • Implements and advises on talent development, employee and team growth and succession plans across the business. Helps leaders turn plans into actionable activities that drive the business
  • Helps develop and implement employee engagement strategies and initiatives with Operations leadership across the site. Supports and navigates change management alongside leadership.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to maintain a positive employee relations environment.
  • Administers and monitors performance management and merit increase programs; reviews and processes performance appraisals and increases in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Conducts exit interviews, analyzes data, and makes suggestions for improvements.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains accurate and concise job descriptions, and coordinates with operating management the upkeep of descriptions as job responsibilities change and/or new positions are created.
  • Ensure full compliance with Costa Rican labor laws, covering employment contracts, workplace regulations, mandatory benefits, working hours, health and safety standards, and employee rights.
  • Works closely with the Solesis Business Partners to ensure consistent processes across the businesses.

Talent Acquisition

  • Partners with key stakeholders to develop proactive organizational staffing strategies to recruit and retain top caliber talent across both manufacturing and professional roles to fill immediate and future openings.
  • Leads the internal approval process, posts openings, develops ads, screens resumes, identifies appropriate staffing resources, plans and conducts phone screens and interviews.
  • Works pro-actively to identify external talent pipeline/community/benches for upcoming future hiring needs.
  • Supports the internal employer branding/marketing and management of the employee referral program for hires.

Total Rewards and HR Operations

  • Leads efforts to maintain and run local payroll and upkeep of the HR system. Acts as the subject matter expert for the local payroll process and related programs. Maintains in-depth knowledge of local regulations related to HR and payroll.
  • Maintains employee pay and HR records, including set up for new hire and terminated employees
  • Partners with Compensation to ensure compensation structures and frameworks are aligned with broader Solesis philosophies. Ensures new roles are added into appropriate grades.
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to employees, providing guidance and support on HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Utilizes HR data and analytics to help inform and advise teams of necessary changes or adjustments.
  • Administers benefits program and supports annual benefit renewal to ensure comprehensive and competitive benefit plans.
  • Educates new hire and employees on benefits available to them.
  • Conducts New Hire Orientation, including benefits.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven years related progressive HR experience with demonstrated track record in each of the HR specialty areas required. Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • Must have strong bilingual language capabilities in Spanish/English both verbally and in writing
  • Previous experience with the startup of a Costa Rica location a plus
  • Previous experience working for a multinational company a strong plus
  • Previous experience in supporting leaders as a trusted advisor and partner. Strong ability to influence, persuade, guide and advise both managers and employees
  • Considerable knowledge of HR practices, trends, and legislation.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees.
  • Ability to communicate well with internal and external contacts, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to protect and maintain sensitive information.
  • Considerable knowledge of computer programs including Excel, Word and the automated processing systems used by the company.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
